Ford Model A Runabout

The Ford Model A Runabout was part of Ford’s first mass-produced car, introduced in 1903. It was a lightweight, two-seater version of the Model A, designed to be an affordable and practical vehicle for everyday use. The Model A was powered by a two-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine that produced around 8 horsepower, capable of reaching a top speed of approximately 28 mph (45 km/h).

The Runabout had a simple, open-body design, with no roof or windshield, and was priced at around $850. It featured a planetary transmission and chain-drive system, which were typical of early automobiles. The Model A’s success helped establish Ford as a major player in the automotive industry, and it was one of the cars that laid the groundwork for the famous Model T introduced a few years later.

The Model A Runabout is now considered an important milestone in automotive history, reflecting the early days of car manufacturing and Henry Ford’s vision for accessible vehicles.
